- 2009June
Founding of Sandhas GmbH Möbel und Innenausbau
After further training at the Fachschule für Holztechnik Stuttgart and the master joiner’s examination at the Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts, everything was in place for his own company. The first customers included befriended craft businesses, a kitchen studio and clients from his private network.
- 2010February
First public-sector contract
We win our first public-sector contract in a tender. Our own CNC machines for drilling and milling and a modern edge banding machine ensure precision and on-time delivery.
- 2012September
Move to Calw and purchase of Schreinerei Kübler
Christian Sandhas buys Schreinerei Kübler and steers his company onto a forward-looking course. Over 40 years of expertise, the employees taken on and a large customer base are added. From then on the focus is on fitted furniture and kitchens.
- 2014April
First major fitness project
A regional entrepreneur commissions us with the complete studio interior: 300 lockers, counters, washstands and fitted kitchens – individually made.

Market-ready solution for the fitness market
Further development into a market-ready solution and first exhibition at Interbad Stuttgart.

The world asks for our changing room systems
For the first time one of our changing room systems leaves Germany. With the first orders from neighbouring countries – France, Switzerland, Denmark and Austria – it becomes clear that quality from Calw convinces across borders. From here on, export becomes a permanent part of our business.
- 2020
Modernisation of production
We invest in the future of our production: a new Homag edge banding machine, combined with an automated Barbaric handling system, moves into our workshop. This lets us manufacture even more precisely, efficiently and with consistently high quality – even as volumes grow.
- 2022
Relaunch of our locker systems
We put our locker systems to the test and develop them fundamentally. The designs are revised, individual production steps optimised and the lockers improved in stability, workmanship and everyday suitability. The result: a mature product that meets our customers’ requirements even better.
- 2024
The 10,000th locker
A real milestone: the ten-thousandth locker leaves our production. Behind this number are years of craft experience, continuous development and the trust of our customers at home and abroad.
- 2026
Extension and modernisation of the workshop
We are extending and modernising our workshop, creating space for further growth, modern production processes and a contemporary working environment for our team.
Entrepreneur
Christian Sandhas.
What do you do with a master craftsman’s certificate in your pocket? Either you sign on with an established joinery – or you build your own company.
It helps if, like Christian Sandhas, you set up your own workshop at the end of your journeyman years in 2006. In the years leading up to his master’s certificate he already followed his passion for wood and made the wishes of numerous clients come true in interior fit-outs.
In 2009 he passed his master craftsman’s examination at the Fachschule für Holztechnik with flying colours and took the next logical step: the joinery workshop became Sandhas GmbH Möbel und Innenausbau. In the following years he gathered more tinkerers and makers around him whose hearts beat for wood just as his own does.
In 2012 he took over Kübler Innenausbau and moved lock, stock and barrel to Calw. With the new name Sandhas Werkstätten GmbH he also gave the company a new direction: furnishing fitness and wellness studios with wooden furniture. The first big success followed in 2014 with the complete redesign of the KUNZI Fitness & Wellness Park – reception areas, lockers, benches and washstands, all in warm wood.
“Creating an atmosphere in which active, energetic people feel at home – with the best material imaginable: wood.”
